JOBS THAT WILL DISAPPEAR IN THE NEXT TEN YEAR
It is not a surprise that today your mode of earning will not be a future job but it will be done by some machines or at least you will not be required for the job that you are performing now. Sounds Bitter but it is the truth with our adapting and evolving technology a lot of jobs have been eradicated and a lot is on the way to eradication. The future does not seem bright, does it?
Our country's population is definitely not decreasing but jobs are decreasing at a high rate and those days are not very far when all of us will have to rely on agriculture for our basic needs. Thanks to rural India for that at least we have something to fall back on rather than choosing the wrong path in desperation.
Indeed, some jobs will be replaced as a result of technological advancement and automation. Some jobs will become obsolete. Jobs might disappear from one geography, only to rise in another due to global outsourcing. Some jobs dwindle to small numbers and remain in existence in an artisanal or craft sense.
For example-
1-TEACHING-After COVID-19 stormed the world we all went to our caves and tried our best to live a normal life and not get bothered by the pandemic. Be it anything like education, food, or even our jobs. For all these things we relied on technology. Especially in education fields, no one could compromise with it and everybody came online to study and teach thanks to our technology otherwise god knows what would have happened.
So, from there we understood that technology will leave space for only excellent teachers and instructors, others will go away. People will prefer learning from the best teachers and trainers who will be available to them online. This way they can choose the best from the comfort of their own house.
2-BANKING JOBS- These might get impacted big time. Only jobs related to investments might stay. Rest everything will go away. Since digital currencies will eliminate most of the administrative work. There is no doubt that digital currencies are becoming more and more interesting and famous to a large part of our world. This is one of the big signs that physical currency will get overpowered by digital currencies as it is much easier and safer to spend.
3-DOCTORS- Yes, believe it or not, this field is quite risky in today's time as you can see how COVID-19 took the world by storm. In situations like this one, those doctors can survive in their fields who are well-rehearsed and not mediocre. There is not much left for mediocre doctors these days. Only doctors with excellence will find so many avenues to earn more money. The system will enable better ones to impact more and more patients using technology.
4-TRAVEL AGENT- Back in a time when our lives were not taken this much over by technology, exploring looked like a very different thing to do as you had to manage everything all by yourself without knowing much about the place that you are going to explore. So, what we used to do is hire a Travel agent to arrange most of the things so that we do not feel lost at the time of travel.
But, now times have changed everything is on the internet and it is just a few clicks away, be it the place where you want to stay, the mode of transportation or the historical places that you want to see, etc. every single thing is up there. At the same time, I think it sort of kills the excitement of being in a different place and different state or country.
5-TEXTILE WORKERS-If you have ever noticed or seen textile work then you must have noticed that it is machine work that is being done by the humans themselves why? because a small business does not have the required advanced machines to run their business so they hire people to do machine work at cheap rates. But, even startups are also getting a good push now by the government policies so it is very much anticipated that textile work will eliminate humans from the business and replace them with advanced machinery.
6-PRINTING PRESS OPERATOR-It is an unfortunate thing but it is what it is there are many speculations that in coming near future printing media can come to an end. As everyone prefers online media where there is much-unbiased news available. The printing media of today has become biased and one-sided even some biggest newspapers are well known for their escapades. So, printing operator might lose their jobs in near future and even if printing media does not end they will definitely become high-tech and probably use advanced machines for printing purposes.
7-REFEREE/UMPIRE-As technology is taking part in everything then why not in games and sports as a lot of tournaments organizations are being forced to use technology in the game to give unbiased and accurate decisions. Also for time recording. So, you might want to think before choosing this career as there will not be much scope left in the future.
8-TRAVEL AND TOURISM- As we all saw at times of COVID-19 how deeply and severely this sector got affected and most of the people working in restaurants and hotels lost their jobs and were left unemployed with no ensured hope for the future. This sector gets affected at times of emergency very badly. So, there is no doubt that in the future it will get eliminated. There are many restaurants where food is delivered by robots at the table or they have self-service so there is no need for water in these kinds of restaurants.
9-Basic IT jobs like BPO and CALL CENTRE jobs- These jobs are often termed dangerous jobs. People who are working in this field are not involved in any programming language at a minimum level so these jobs are at more risk. People earning their livelihood through these jobs are more at risk. Most of the low-end IT jobs will be eliminated. Either there will be very high-paying IT jobs or nothing. There will be far fewer customer care executives than there are right now. Bots will take up most of these jobs.
10-FISHING/FISHER- As the government is becoming more and more concerned about climate change and the environment. Fishing is going to stop after some time as fishers usually kill a large no. of aquatic animals which puts aquatic life in more danger than ever. This profession is already a very less paying job so in the future it will get completely eradicated.
11-MARKET SHOPS/SHOPKEEPERS- As people are choosing comfort over everything and shops are also facing a hard time raising profits. People are choosing online shopping for everything even for grocery shopping and surprisingly they are quite content and happy doing that as they have more options online and they do not have to face the guilt of being in the market and visiting different shops to buy even the slightest thing.
12-REPEATABLE JOBS-Automation is coming big time. Anything repeatable will be eliminated. Technology will evolve patterns and it will eat up repeatable jobs easily first. Example- Clerical jobs, Drivers, couriers, delivery boys, etc.
Talking about Drivers fuel cars are being replaced by electric cars that do not require drivers at all. Similarly, with airplanes too.
Bank tellers and cashiers. Mobile banking and electronic fund transfers are eliminating the paper trail for banking transactions and one day we will never need to walk into a bank to carry out day-to-day activities in person (that day could be today, except for some reason, I still have to process checks/cheques in person at the bank, especially when it’s cross-currency).
CONCLUSION
The evolution in the job market is quite natural and inevitable as you cannot expect things to remain stagnant for the rest of your life. At some point, things will get better and smart. Just like in real life too we as a human evolve every day and learn new things every day to make ourselves better and make our lifestyle better and so for that, the world needs to evolve and keep on changing every day. In the coming future maybe there will not be the jobs that we have today but, that does not mean it will make us unemployed, a new day brings new opportunities and new possibilities.
