NO ONE WANTS TO WORK HARD ANYMORE

If I ask you what is your dream job? then your answer will be very predictable. An amazing location with a breathtaking view and a laptop in one hand, only working for a few hours a day, away from your regular cubicle or office life. It is ok to think like this. We all dream of all these things. But, what is important here is to realize and be wise enough to understand that even if you get your wish full filled you will not be as happy and content as you think you are going to be. That is the truth that we are not thinking much about.

First of all, it is not possible for every millennium to get a dream job like this and another thing is that how can you expect to work only a few hours a day when you live in a country like India? Where everything is too intense and too extreme, be it our spices, our culture, or even the working hours of a common Indian. Surveys have proved that Indians work the hardest without even taking a break. They do not work this hard because they want but, but when you live in a country of more than one billion population you have to be productive and you have to do things that no one else is doing. Just take the example of two families one family has only 3 members: mother, father, and son whereas the other family has 6 members: mother, father, and their 4 children. Now, it is quite obvious that the latter will have to work harder to balance things out and earn a good livelihood.

But, at the same time, the pandemic taught all of us that our professional work is not confined to the four walls of our office cubicles. You can work from any place on earth, you just need good wifi connectivity and some peace to attend those Zoom meetings. Also for all those morning meetings, you do not have to be physically present at the meeting; it can be done on a zoom call. The pandemic made us quite versatile and made us reach the heights of our capabilities. we could not go to schools so online classes took over the responsibility to educate and offices got closed so we started working from home which eventually made us realize that if work can be done from the home then why not from holiday trips and tourist destinations?
Our generation is becoming more attracted to the social media lifestyle where they always want to be in a vacation destination and even the thought of working for 40 hours a week gives them a headache. Social media has corrupted everyone's mind into thinking that living life and doing a job is not like a dream and fantasy world. Just so you know it is neither a fantasy nor a dream. If you want to build a lifestyle it will require time and effort. Everything takes time and if you want things to happen in the blink of an eye, then you need to change your mind and outlook toward everything. People are so influenced by social media that whenever they see a post of their friend enjoying holidays in Bali at the same time working in that place, they want the same thing and the worst thing is that they think it will make them feel happy. It will never make you happy or content because the idea itself is of another person you are just jealous of his idea and his present situation.

A lot of people complain about their 9 to 5 jobs. What they do not realize is that a 9 to 5 job is the initial phase of the life that you have dreamt for yourself. It is more like an inevitable phase of life that no one can deny. we all know that it is a repeatable job and eventually you get bored of it. You need to look at the bright side that at least you have a job that earns you a livelihood. Nine to Five jobs are more like a door to your dream life and your life's passion because a lot of people leave their nine-to-five jobs. It makes them realize that this is not something they can do for the rest of their lives, so it is more like a door that opens your soul. A lot of people were hard-working back in time. It was a simpler time when exploring the world was not in trend but spending time peacefully with family was much more important than any other thing. Today it is more like how many countries you have traveled to around the globe. It is not everyone's genuine dream. Some people are doing it for some petty Instagram pictures solely.

Talking about Gen-Z this generation is highly drawn toward easy technology. What I mean by easy technology is that Social Media is highly influenced by it. They think dancing and acting in front of their phones will get the money and help them travel the world and it does actually but just think about aimlessly making videos and making money how long can you do that do you want to do that for the rest of your life, obviously not, you cannot dance in front of your camera in you mid-40s. A lot of young kids write in their bios An INFLUENCER but, every time I see this influencer word written on someone's bio I always wonder who is influencing and what influence they are leaving on other people because an influencer never says that he is an influencer. Being an influencer is not a job title.

The young generation wants to earn money as soon as possible. They do not know that patience is the process of earning success. They think money will eventually solve all of their problems which it will not. Plus they would spend the money like crazy and would not feel guilty about it.
They have that mentality of 99. When they have a certain amount of money, they spend all of it at once. So at the end of the month when they have to pay their bills, they do not have enough to cover them because they have already spent most of it. This is the result of having very minimal knowledge about managing finance and not listening to your elders.
When you have the 1 percent mentality, you invest and grow your current wealth. That is what young people are supposed to do at this age. If not half then at least 30 percent of your salary should go into savings.
One more problem with gen-z is that they are inspired by the wrong kinds of people. They are inspired by those people who assure them wealth overnight which is impossible they are just luring them into buying their lie. They fall into this trap so easily.

CONCLUSION

There is nothing wrong with expecting 4 hours a week of work in Bali but the wrong thing is thinking that you will be happy by living that life and not realizing the consequences of it. To build that level of lifestyle you will have to grind yourself hard for 40 hours a week. You need to accept that patience is the key to everything and know it is part of a process or an evitable part of a process.

You must have read a quote-

IF YOU WANT TO SHINE LIKE THE SUN
FIRST BURN LIKE IT.
                                -A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

This quote sums up pretty much everything.

If you want to work only 4 hours a week in your 20s then what are you planning on doing after your retirement? If you want to enjoy life now then what are you leaving for your future? Taking a holiday once or twice a year is perfectly normal. Do not get fooled by all these people on social media who show off their lifestyle because you do not know what goes behind those curtains. Nothing comes easy. You will have to work hard at some point in your life, so why not in your 20s when you are young and exhilarated with energy? Take the best advantage of the current situation and make the best out of it. Work hard on increasing your skills.
